How and Where to Volunteer in Oshawa

Volunteering offers you an opportunity to give back and serve others by assisting at Community and Family Services or at the church.  Our Food Bank/Thrift Store/Christmas volunteer coordinator can be reached at 905-723-7422 ext 221.   • Food Bank Volunteers
    • assist with sorting, checking date/quality,
    • help with bagging, and distributing food
    • MOP canteen truck for homeless
  • Thrift Store Volunteers
    • assist with sorting, checking quality, pricing
    • help in store, displaying donated items
    • help pick-up and delivery of larger items
  • Christmas Volunteers (November & December)
    • assist with the toy receiving/sorting/displaying
    • help assemble food hampers
    • stand at the Christmas Kettles. 2 and 3 hour
  • Church Volunteers
    • many groups gather to get things done with great fellowship along the way: community garden, church gardening, kitchen helpers (coffee/tea/food, set-up, clean-up), greeters, ushers, media team helpers (video cameras and audio/streaming), Sunday prep (folding bulletins/Welcome folders),

We offer support to individuals receiving social assistance (Ontario Works) and those coming through the justice system who are required to perform community service hours by providing them with a venue to complete these hours. Our programs reach the community in many ways, including:

  1. Providing food for those in need through our Food Bank
  2. Providing clothing and furniture through our thrift Store
  3. Providing cooked food for those living on on the streets 
  4. Stop Theft Counselling
  5. Marital/Couple Counselling
  6. Grief & Loss Counselling
  7. Anger & Stress Management
  8. Abuse & Trauma Counselling
  9. Spiritual Counselling Parenting
  10. Personal Boundaries & Relationship
  11. Self Image & Self-Esteem
  12. Budgeting & Financial Counselling
  13. Anxiety and Depression Counselling
  14. Christmas Toys and Christmas Food Hampers for those in need
